Gilles Colas

Senior Vice President – Strategic Development

Gilles Colas, Senior Vice President in charge of Strategic Development since September 1st, 2011, was formerly Saint-Gobain's General Delegate for North America from January 2009 to August 2011. He transferred to the U.S. from Asia-Pacific, where he was Saint-Gobain's General Delegate from March 2003 to December 2008.

Mr. Colas joined Saint-Gobain in 1973. He held a variety of management posts within the Company's Flat Glass Division before being appointed General Manager, Saint-Gobain Flat Glass Colombia, in 1980.

From 1983 to 1986, Mr. Colas was Vice President, Industrial & Commercial Policy and and then Industrial General Manager for the Flat Glass Division. In 1986, he became President of Vegla (Germany) and Director of Saint-Gobain's Flat Glass business for Germany, Eastern and Northern Europe.

Mr. Colas was named Vice President - Corporate Planning for Compagnie de Saint-Gobain, based in Paris, in 1992.

From 1997 to 2000, Mr. Colas was President of Saint-Gobain's Building Materials Division. He was then in charge of the Abrasives Division until 2003, when he was appointed Saint-Gobain General Delegate for Asia-Pacific.

Mr. Colas has been a member of the General Management Committee of the Saint-Gobain Group since 1992. He has a Masters degree in civil engineering from Ponts et Chaussées (France) and a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University (United States).
