A new high-performance glazing plant in France
Pierre-André de Chalendar inaugurated Saint-Gobain Glass Solutions’ new site in Crissey, France on February 10, 2010. It is one of the largest sites in France for producing advanced insulation glazing for the building market.
The Group spent nearly €13 million to build the new double and triple glazing production unit. With four assembly lines, including the longest in Europe (70 meters), the plant has an annual production capacity of one million square meters. Of this, 75% is for the renovation market and 25% for new building. The new plant, one of the most modern in Europe, replaces the nearby Centre Est Vitrage facilities.
Products include SGG Climaplus® advanced insulation glazing, which is three times as effective as conventional double glazing and six times more effective than single glazing. The Crissey plant also manufactures SGG Climatop® triple glazing, which is twelve times more effective than conventional single glazing while offering a high level of transparency that lets in added sunlight.
In keeping with the "produce locally for local customers" concept and substantially reduce shipping-related CO2 emissions, the new site delivers 5,000 units a day, from Monday through Friday, within a 400 kilometer radius.
